Singh started his political career today with the party, saying,"I wish to serve the nation in this new role. I am happy that I am joining the party which is nationalist and decisive."
Singh was presented with a party badge, a medal , flowers and a ticket. Along with him, few other senior ex-servicemen were also presented the same. The list of the 100 new members were read out.
Gen V K Singh said,"there is just one alternative in politics-BJP. Hence, I and a few ex-servicemen have decided that we would join this party that aims to serve the nation."
Rajnath Singh said,"The defence forces are the most honest and the dedicated lot in the country and BJP is proud to have these people as the members of the party. The country has faith in them and they trust them with their lives."
Rajnath Singh referred to the INS Sindhuratna accident, condemning the UPA for ignoring the safety warnings of the warheads. "Our defence forces are not being treated well. The infrastructure that is being provided to them is poor. Moreover, the government is weak to respond to the ceasefire violations by Pakistan. The government should have dealt with China and Pakistan intrusions with an iron hand."
He further said,"India has the mind to make its own weapons. Why can't it do so? Why do we have to buy discarded weapons from other countries? Just to lose our men and win crores under the bench?"
"We have taken the well-thought of decision with the consent of Sri LK Advani and the party members and welcomed them to the party," he added.
