Floods claim 45 lives in Odisha, 4.8 L people affected
At least 32.9 lakh persons have been affected by the floods, said the report. People living in the delta region of the Mahanadi river system are the worst sufferers.
Nearly, 5,313 villages spread over 23 districts have been destroyed by the rising waters. At least 3, 22,163 hectares of agricultural land has been affected by the flood waters, said the government officials.
The government has deployed 40 teams from both state and national disaster response forces in the affected areas.
Free kitchens have been set up at 200 places and over 100 medical teams and 365 boats have been dispatched to help the flood victims.
More rain is expected in the coming days.
