Bengaluru, Jan 20: In the year 2013, Intelligence Agencies had warned that the Lashkar-e-Tayiba was training women terrorists to carry out strikes in India. An all women's terror module had been launched in Pakistan under the banner Dukhtareen-e-Tayiba and the inputs gathered by India went on to suggest that these women would be used to launch attacks on Indian soil.

While the Lashkar is yet to launch its women's wing completely to carry out attacks, the Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) was quick to launch its all women's wing. Using women in terror strikes has always proved to be fatal since 8 out of 10 times they do not catch the eye of the security agencies.

Femme fatale- Meet India's lady jihadis

The women's wing of the JMB:

In India it is the JMB, which has successfully managed to launch a women's wing. We saw that in the Burdhwan episode where scores of young women were being to launch terror strikes. In fact as per the probe of the National Investigating Agency, there were 12 couples involved in the operation.

The women's wing was being headed by Fatima who is the wife of Sajid, one of the masterminds of the Burdhwan module. She was given the role to recruit women into the module and also train them.

During her recruitment process, she went ahead and recruited women and even girls in the age group of 11 and 18. The NIA says each one of them was training to carry out strikes and the girls below the age of 18 were also handed out manuscripts of what the JMB agenda was.

Making the bombs:

What the NIA has found is that these women who were recruited were being trained in making bombs. At the modules, it was found that there were several women who were actively preparing the bombs, which were meant to be transported to Bangladesh.

Moreover, during the questioning of the accused it was also found that the masterminds had told the operatives to marry local women from West Bengal. The women on the other hand were told to get married to the local men.

Furthermore, the probe also found that Fatima the head of the women's wing was operating out of the Madrasa in Simulia. She was aided by another lady by the name Ayesha who is also the wife of an operative called Yusuf. The other women found in the module were Moina Begum, Alima, Bilkis Begum, Sayama and Saira who were also instrumental in setting up the women's wing of the JMB.

Dukhtareen-e-Tayiba

The Dukhtareen-e-Tayiba floated by the Lashkar had trained around 70 women according to a report by the Intelligence Bureau. These women were being trained at Muzzafarabad and were all in the age group of 18 to 25.

The Dukhtareen-e-Tayiba, however, had roped in women only as fidayeens and none of them were being trained to be foot soldiers planting bombs. Each one of them were handpicked by the top brass of the Lashkar and trained.

Headed by Umi Ahmed the Dukhtareen-e-Tayiba has not been used to its full capacity as yet. This is a very key module for the Lashkar and it would be used first on a test basis on the border and later to launch strikes in India. For the Lashkar this is an important module and will give it the surprise element whenever it decides to launch it.

The ISIS:

There is no data to show that any Indian woman has joined the ISIS as yet. However very recently the agencies managed to bring back a couple of youth including a lady from Kolkata when they were trying to slip out of the country and join the ISIS.

The ISIS has, however, not been training its lady terrorists for combat as yet. Their job has been to lay honey traps and also carry out house-hold work for its male fighters. Several reports would suggest that the females in the ISIS have not been allowed to get into the battle field as yet. They have been roped in to carry out normal chores for the men in the outfit.

The story of Hayat Boumeddiene:

The Charlie Hebdo attack saw a lady terrorist involved in it. Hayat Boumeddiene is on the run, "armed and dangerous", the French authorities had warned just after the attack.

The French authorities, however, say that she could have slipped out of France now and search operations are on. Hayat had killed a female police officer at a Paris suburb.

She is said to have been radicalized by Amedy Coulibaly the man she married. He was killed by the French police in a raid following the Charlie Hebdo attack.
