In the backdrop of allegations of EVM tampering, the Election Commission on Thursday reiterated that EVMs cannot be tampered with. "Given the effective technical and administrative safeguards, Electronic Voting Machines are not tamperable and the integrity of the electoral process is preserved," the ECI was quoted by news agencies.
Keeping in mind the allegations being levelled, the election commission assured that the matter will be looked into. "If any specific allegation with material facts is presented, it (the allegations) will be looked into with all seriousness on administrative sides," the ECI added.
Bahujan Samaj Party supremo Mayawati and Aam Aadmi Party's chief Arvind Kejriwal had alleged that the EVMs used in Uttar Pradesh and Punjab were rigged to influence results in the five state polls and had sought an investigation into the same.
