Babus still playing truant! Attendance.Gov.in gives shocking figure
As quoted by DNA, nearly around 40% of employees tend to be absent from work on any single working day of the week. Out of total 50,587 central government employees registered with the website, only 27,553 turned up on October 10.
The big shocking is Venkaiah Naidu's Urban development ministry which also fares badly on the front. Out of total 463 biometric-registered employees, only 345 employees were present on Friday. Other department also followed the suits. In rural development, out of 1006, only 429 appeared and in water resource 1034(439).
This minute to minute tracking idea is the brainchild of Naidu who in surprise visit to Nirman Bhavan office found that many of the staffs had not turned up on office timing. Taking a strong note of the matter, Naidu had even ordered show-cause notices against the 80 odd erring employees then.
Earlier, on October 7, on the line of Jharkhand government's attendance website Attendance. Gov. in was launched to track office timing of the employees.
Last month IRam Sevak Sharma who is Secretary of Information Technology had said, "The biometric attendance system for central employees will be fully functional by the end of this month". He said that this website will bring more transparency as it would provide and update information about central government employee. It will help the government to track their movements.
It seems Babu's behavior and approach have not changed much but the way noose is tightening around them it can be said that in coming days they will definitely have to mend their way.
