RSS Shocker: Mohan Bhagwat refuses to cross limit for Narendra Modi
Bhagwat, speaking at Pratinidhi Sabha in Bangalore on Sunday, March 9, cautioned RSS cadres to stay away from any personality-driven campaign ahead of the Lok Sabha election which is scheduled to begin on April 7.
Bhagwat was quoted as saying, "Hum rajneeti mein nahin hain. Humara kaam ‘Namo Namo' karna nahin hai. Humme apne lakshya ke liye kaam karna hai (We should concentrate on our aims, we should not follow the wave of NaMo NaMo)."
RSS should work in an isolated manner in current circumstances: Mohan Bhagwat
He was also quoted as saying, "Humaari apni maryada hai. Humme maryada nahi todni hai (We have our own limits. We must not cross our limits)." Bhagwat recent statement showed that RSS cadres might be confused over their stand on BJP's prime ministerial candidate.
Recently, RSS had endorsed Modi as a strong leader for developing Gujarat under his government. During the Sangh's annual convention in Bangalore, RSS joint general secretary Dattatreya Hosabale had said, "He (Modi) is a strong leader who has delivered in Gujarat. We are proud of him as our karyakarta (worker).
Observing that the country was looking forward for a change and a government that ensured good governance, Hosabale said the Sangh would give the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) suggestions on economic policies, development models and measures to tackle price rise and check high inflation. However, Mohan Bhagwat on Sunday claimed that it was more important for RSS to work in an isolated manner in the current circumstances.
