The Delhi police investigating the election commission bribery case questioned TTV Dinakaran's wife Anuradha on Thursday. Dinakaran was first taken to Rajaji Bhavan in Besant Nagar for questioning after which he was taken to his residence amid tight security.
Sleuths who are tracing the illegal channel through which money was routed questioned Anuradha after learning that Mallikarjuna handled her finances and those of the firms under her name. Mallikarjuna was arrested on the same day as Dinakaran for helping procure money that was illegally handed over to Sukesh Chandrasekhar.
It may be recalled that in an affidavit filed before the Election Commission for his candidature in the R K Nagar bypoll, Dinakaran had claimed that he had assets worth just over Rs 68 lakh, whereas his wife had assets worth over Rs 9.59 crore. The affidavit claimed that every piece of property that the couple owned except their Mylapore house was in Anuradha's name.
The Delhi police is expected to take Dinakaran to Bengaluru and Kochi as part of investigations.
