New Delhi, Jan 8: IAS officer, Durga Shakti Nagpal, who took on the sand mining mafia in UP, has been granted Central deputation and appointed as Officer on Special Duty (OSD) to Union Agriculture Minister Radha Mohan Singh.
According to media reports, the 2010 batch IAS officer has been appointed as OSD on the initiative of the Agriculture Minister himself.
The appointments committee of the Cabinet headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi issued an order appointing Nagpal as the OSD in the office of the Agriculture Minister for three years.
Media report say that the Agriculture Minister was impressed with the track record and efficiency of Durga Shaki Nagpal.
Nagpal, who became a victim of communal politics, was suspended ostensibly as sub-divisional magistrate (SDM) on July 27, 2013, for giving order to break down a wall of the mosque in Gautasm Budh Nagar, an action the Uttar Pradesh government said it could have flared communal tension.
However, in September that year her suspension was withdrawn and she was reinstated by the state government.
The Akhilesh government also suspended her husband Abhishek Singh, an IAS officer, for allegedly treating a Dalit teacher in Mathura district in an "inhuman" manner.
