DU suspends professor for alleged Maoist links
New Delhi, May 15: A Delhi University professor has been suspended by the varsity authority for alleged Maoist links, said a TOI report.

DU has suspended GN Saibaba, an English teacher at Ram Lal Anand College, who was arrested on May 9, 2014.

The DU governing body had "recommended his suspension on Wednesday and the vice chancellor gave his approval on Thursday, said DU sources.

"The order has been issued," they said.

Saibaba's wife, AS Vasantha had told supporters and the media on Wednesday that the university was trying to suspend him. She was expressed fear that the family may be asked to vacate the warden's quarters at Gwyer Hall in north campus. However, Malay Neerav, joint-dean, students' welfare, said no order has been passed regarding the accommodations yet.

The DU wing of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad and the students' union had held a protest at Arts Faculty in north campus to demand his suspension.
