DMK leaders observe hunger strike; want fresh floor test in TN assembly
Leaders of several political parties observed a day-long hunger strike in Tamil Nadu on Wednesday to protest against the recent controversial floor test in the state assembly.
Chennai, Feb 22: The Tamil Nadu political crisis seems to be not yet over. On Wednesday, the opposition Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam leaders observed a day-long hunger strike across the state, including capital city Chennai.
The main demand of the protesting leaders is to conduct a fresh floor test in the state assembly to find out the 'actual number' of the ruling All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam MLAs supporting the recently sworn-in government of Chief Minister Edappadi K Palanisamy.
The senior DMK leader, MK Stalin, joined the protest with his colleagues in Trichy, TN, reported ANI.

Along with DMK party workers, leaders of the Congress and the Indian Union Muslim League also took part in the hunger strike. The protesters alleged that the recent floor test in the state assembly was a 'murder of democracy' as AIADMK leaders voted in support of CM Palanisamy's government under duress.
Violence erupted during the floor test, after DMK leaders demanded secret ballot. Several leaders of the opposition parties, including Stalin, alleged that they were manhandled by Palanisamy's supporters inside the assembly.
Advocate K Balu told ANI, "I have proof that the AIADMK MLAs were kept at Golden Bay resort for 11 days and also that many filed complaint about being caged."
