Mumbai, Feb 7: After Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Swachh Bharat campaign, Indian Railways have taken a new initiatives. An online complaint can be filed while travelling in train and actions will be taken within 15 minutes.
The Central Railway will launch a new website which will ensure speedy cleaning of coaches or toilets in long-distance trains that depart from Mumbai. According to sources, the new website is -- cleanmycoach.com. Passengers can also download an app, 'Observe', on the site.
A media report quoted a senior official as saying, "We already have housekeeping staff on board, but passengers are not able to locate their presence on a moving train. The online complaint system will allow passengers to summon them quickly to attend to complaints related to cleanliness in coaches, including toilets."
How does it work?
Passengers need to feed in their PNR numbers on mobile phones to register complaints on the website, which has been commissioned exclusively for the purpose.
An attendant on the train will instantly get an SMS with details of the coach and the berth number.
According to the official, the attendant is expected to visit the spot in 15 to 20 minutes. Once the complaint has been attended to, he will have to seek an acknowledgement from the complainant, who must jot down his mobile number on a sheet.
The mobile number provided on the physical sheet has to match that from which the complaint was registered on the site, to verify its authenticity.
The attendant will also clean toilets. The official also informed that the railways have been planning to introduce similar service in other long routes in near future.
