The former CM was jailed after she was convicted by a Bangalore special court in a 18-year old Rs.66.65 crore disproportionate assets case.
Bangalore, Oct 11: Tamil Nadu chief minister Jayalalitha is cooling her heels in prison now and her party AIADMK has resorted to prayers, violence and all sorts of gimmicks.

On Tuesday, October 7, AIADMK men on Monday performed prayers, pujas and tonsured their heads in front of the Bangalore Central Jail where Jaya has been lodged. Nearly 100 men tonsured their heads for Jaya. Local AIADMK leader KR Krishna Raju sponsored the event. The party men will reportedly donate the tonsured hair to temples and pray for the well-being of Jaya.

Interestingly, a set of people in the state are reaping gold from the situation. It was said by AIADMK that at least 100 people died in the state after Jaya was jailed. Some committed suicide while some died due to heart attack caused by distress, the party said. But according to a DMK worker, MA Umapathy, most of these people died natural deaths and other reasons and not due to the distress caused by Jaya's plight.

The party had announced cash compensation for the kin of people who died for Jayalalithaa. According to Umapathy, many families took advantage of the party's stand.
