Dentist, executive commit suicide
Ghaziabad (Uttar Pradesh), Nov 18: Two professionals, a dentist and a marketing executive, committed suicide by hanging themselves from ceiling fans in their homes in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, in separate incidents. The suicides came to light Monday, police said.

Anurag Gupta, 36, a resident of Patna (Bihar) was working as a faculty member in the surgery department of Banke Bihari Dental College and Hospital situated on National Highway-24. He was married, and father of a nine-year-old son.

The family lived in Shastri Nagar. Anurag was found hanging in his bedroom Monday. The police suspect that the dental surgeon committed suicide because of a dispute with his wife.

The suicide was discovered when the wife knocked on the bedroom door Monday morning and got no response. She then called the police, who broke the door open. Anurag was rushed to the MMG Hospital, where doctors said he had died.

Anurag's wife told police that she had had an altercation with her husband the night before, after which she left the bedroom to sleep in the adjoining room.

"The body has been sent for post-mortem examination, and his parents have been informed. It appears to be a case of suicide," a police officer said, adding that investigations were on.

In a another incident, a marketing executive with an insurance company was found hanging from the ceiling fan of his home in the Nagar residential area of Sihani Gate, Ghaziabad.

Police received a call from the owner of the executive's rented house, telling them that the tenant was not responding to repeated knocking on the door. Police then broke the door open to find Anil Kumar, 26, hanging from the ceiling fan.

The police rushed him to hospital, where doctors said he had died.

Two suicide notes were recovered, one addressed to Kumar's father and another to his beloved, who was betrothed to someone else.

The police officer said Kumar had, prima facie, committed suicide because of his disappointment that his beloved was going to marry someone else.
