Demonetisation: Kerala comes to a standstill due to bandh
The bandh was called by the ruling Left Democratic Front (LDF), as a mark of protest over demonetisation.
Thiruvananthapuram, Nov 28: While most parts of the country refused to observe a shutdown, Kerala came to a standstill due to a 12-hour bandh on Monday.

In fact, initially as a part of Jan Aakrosh Diwas called by the Opposition over the demonetisation issue, the entire country was supposed to observe a bandh.

However, later on after public opposition to the bandh call, parties like the Congress and the Trinamool Congress Party (TMC) decided to stay away from the shutdown and choose to just go ahead with protest.
The flip-flop on part of the opposition parties is seen as a "victory" for Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who has come under severe criticism because of poor implementation of demonetisation.
