Lucknow, Dec 7: Azam Khan made another controversial remark and this time it was on Taj Mahal. The Samajwadi Party minister on Sunday, Dec 6 claimed that Taj Mahal should be demolished and a temple for Lord Shiva should be built.
Taking a dig at Uddhav Thackeray's party, Azam Khan reportedly asserted that he would support Shiv Sena if the party demolishes Taj Mahal and builds Shiva temple on it.
Here it can be recalled that Shiv Sena once had claimed that Taj Mahal was built on a place where a Lord Shiva temple was situated.
Taj Mahal, one of the Seven Wonders of the World, was built in the 17th century under Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his favourite wife, Mumtaz.
Not only Shiv Sena, but Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) too faced the wrath of the Samajwadi Party minister. After slamming Shiv Sena, Azam Khan asked the central government to ban RSS.
"The outfit (RSS) is busy in implementing its agenda of creating hatred among communities. They are trying to create similar circumstances in the country that led to the assassination of Mahatma Gandhi in 1948," he told reporters on Sunday.
