New Delhi, July 20: An alleged serial killer in Delhi's Begumpur was arrested for killing over a dozen children and having sex with their bodies in the past seven years. A chilling reminder to the Nithari case, the incident can be rooted back to a psychological disorder called necrophilia.
23-year old Ravinder Kumar, who is a bus cleaner, had been arrested on Thursday when police was looking for a missing six-year old girl.
In his blatant confession to the police, Kumar said that he lured the children with candies, killed them if they resisted and had sex with their bodies. The sexual abuse count accounted for 15 such cases between 2008 and 2015 in Delhi and Uttar Pradesh.
A police officer said,"One of his victims, a six-year-old boy survived despite being drugged, sodomised, bludgeoned on the head and his throat slit. He was dumped for dead near a gutter in Begumpur last year."
Citing alcohol and porn shown by friends as the reason behind the murders, the suspect showed signs of mental disorder while speaking to the media on the way to the court.
He said,"I would have continued targeting children had I not been caught. I felt bad but did it again the next time I drank. I would have asked for stringent punishment had a similar crime been committed with my child."
He is said to have committed the first crime in 2008, which went unreported. He was very categorical in choosing his victims and ensured that they belonged to the age group of 3-8 years, boy or girl.
He also ensured that they belonged to illiterate families so that they did not file a complaint. "Moreover, he couldn't seek sexual gratification from sex workers because he didn't have any money."
