New Delhi, July 21: Days after his arrest, Delhi Police interrogated the serial killer and rapist Ravinder Kumar and came across a few chilling revelations which even shocked the cops.
Ravinder Kumar reportedly told police that he raped and murdered more than 30 children in and around Delhi.
Speaking about their interrogations, police officials were quoted as saying, "Kumar has confessed to murdering more than 30 children after raping them. Most of the cases have taken place in and around Delhi."
Kumar, who hails from Kasganj in Uttar Pradesh, has been living in Delhi. After his confession, he was taken to Narela, Bawana and Alipur, the places where he raped and killed many children.
Verifications at the places would help police to establish the fact (about the number raped and killed), said police official.
Until now, police had thought the number of Kumar's victims would be around 15. But now it seems that the number may cross 40.
Police have mounted a massive operation to know if the cases of missing children filed in the past five years in Vijay Nagar, Bawana, Narela, Alipur, Begumpur, Kanjhawala, Samaypur Badli and other areas are related to this case, Singh said.
24-year-old Kumar has been abducting children and killing them since 2008. In 2014, he abducted a boy near his house and fled after slitting the kid's throat.
He assumed the boy was dead. But the victim survived as police found him bleeding in a septic tank of an under-construction building. He was let off in that case as investigating officers at that time were unaware about his real face.
He was again arrested on July 16, 2015 for raping and murdering a six-year-old girl in Begumpur. The girl had gone missing on July 14.
