Delhi Metro on way to steal 150-year-old London's tube glory

New Delhi, Oct 17: Delhi Metro which has recently been ranked second among 18 international Metro systems in terms of overall customer satisfaction in an online customer survey, is set to surpass London Underground's glory.

Surpassing, London's 140 year-old underground rail network popularly known as 'Tube' will be a major achievement for Delhi metro which made its advent nearly 12 years ago.

According to reports, DMRC will commence the work for phase IV project in next few months. With this, the total length of Delhi Metro network would go up to 434 km exceeding 140-year-old London's Tube which has length of 402-km by 2021.
By achieving this, the Delhi Metro will become the third largest metro network in the world after Shanghai (538 km) and Beijing (465 km). Currently, the Metro is the tenth-largest-network ranking globally and is set to move up three notches to seventh place by the end of Phase 3. By 2021, it is expected to become the second-largest network in the world.

Recently, Delhi Metro was ranked second among 18 international Metro systems in terms of overall customer satisfaction in an online customer survey. The survey was conducted among the commuters of those Metro systems by Global Metro Benchmarking Groups NOVA and CoMET. Delhi Metro along with London DLR and Bangkok were the best three performers in the Net Promoters Score (NPS) category.

The Metro systems that participated in this survey apart from Delhi Metro were Hong Kong MTR, London Underground, Metro De Madrid, Paris RATP, Metro De Sandiago, Singapore SMRT, Barcelona TMB, Brussels STIB, Bangkok BMCL, London DLR, Istanbul Ulasim, Kualalumpur Rapid PL, Metropolitano De Lisboa, Montreal STM, Newcastle Nexus, Metro Rio and Toronto TTC.
