Delhi in festive mode: Fancy trees and decorations this Christmas season!

New Delhi, Dec 24: Make your wishes, hang up those stockings, turn into a secret Santa for somebody else and most importantly set up your tree for it is the season of holidays.

Christmas trees this year have got taller and wider with new styles of decorations. A 20 feet tall tree with a new kind of in-lighting has been installed at the DLF Promenade mall.

The mall at Select CityWalk has set up a 72-feet-tall Christmas tree with a diameter of 42 feet and sporting about 15,000 decoration elements with a total of 24192 LED bulbs being used to jazz up the magnificent structure.

Mall authorities say that it took them over 168 hours to complete the tree with a total 150 people working on it. Besides this, a huge chandelier in the central atrium with beautiful dream catchers, doves, wreaths, bells and bows have added to the shopping arcade's decorations.

The venue also sports 'Santa's workshop with science' a range of Christmas-themed theatre science lab activities aimed at making it fun for children to practice their science skills.

The Shangri-La's hotel tree is made up of dried twigs and laden with red berries and Christmas tree toppers.

"The team painstakingly worked for two months to create this environmentally friendly Christmas tree," a spokesperson said.

The Imperial hotel's lobby sports a spectacular, larger than life Christmas tree installation whose piece de resistance designed by French artists has been decked up with copper and gold wires and surrounded by clouds, stars , balls, birds, sparkling like diamonds.

Its patisserie La Baguette has a larger than life size walk-in Ginger bread house, encasing the indulgent Christmas goodies. Santa Clauses and choirs are present at both the venues.

Children also get a chance to drop in their 'wish lists' at HyperCity Noida where every child gets a chance to select from an array of sports goods including football, carom boards, bicycles, remote control cars, split scooters, Barbie business board games, soft toys and others.

Children need not only wait for their presents but can indulge in various activities especially set up to make their Christmas special. DLF Promenade has organised a live snowfall experience and surprise packages for children at their 'Kiddyland.'

The Taj Mahal hotel is celebrating the festival with Christmas trees, ginger bread houses lined up in snowy sets, little toy trains chugging through tunnels, smell of fresh bakes wafting in the air and young and old singing carols at the lobby. 

Delhi Tourism is celebrating Christmas at 'Dilli Haat' in Janakpuri. Besides delicacies from other states, a variety of cakes and chocolate stalls the fair is also offering Santa Claus attire and other decorative items.

Various corporates have got creative with gifting options. Hackett London has launched a series of videos entitled 'Gift Tastefully' that gives an insight into a man's life where he puts his Christmas jumper in a charity box or reuses a sock to wash a car.

Companies like Timesaverz, UrbanClap and Eco Rent a Car are becoming secret santa for their customers.

While Timesaverz has initiated a campaign for under-privileged children, and roped in celebrities similarly UrbanClap is providing on demand service for busy people to decorate houses and trees this Christmas.

Others like Eco Rent A Car is giving discounts to customers while Uberchopper, a helicopter service launched by app-based transport service Uber and powered by Droom in Bangalore, Delhi, Pune and Mumbai is offering the experience of an aerial tour of the city.

Jamie Oliver at Vasant Kunj has a gift hamper with Jamie Oliver's Cook book, Jamie Oliver's napkin pack and terracotta dishes.

Joybynature, an online natural products store is offering gift packs that range from massage oils, facial kits, herbal bath kits, Christmas dry fruits pack, Christmas nutty and cookie packs. Food Hall is also offering similar hampers.
