New Delhi, Sept 6: In a major setback, the Delhi High Court on Friday dismissed the plea of former Haryana chief minister Om Prakash Chautala's demanding for extension of interim bail in teachers' recruitment scam.
According to reports, the High Court has directed Chautala to surrender on Sept 17.
On January 22, 78-year-old Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) chief O P Chautala, his son Ajay Chautala and nine others were convicted and sentenced to 10 years jail term by the trial court for illegally recruiting 3,206 junior teachers in 2000.
Among other convicts, 44 have been sentenced to four years in jail and one was sentenced to a five-year jail term in the case.
Chautala was sentenced for illegally recruiting 3,206 junior teachers in 2000.
All of them were held guilty of cheating, forgery, using fake documents as genuine, conspiracy under the IPC and for abusing their official position under the Prevention of Corruption Act.
