Delhi govt to make pulses cheaper
New Delhi, July 7: The Delhi Government will join hands with the Delhi Grain Merchants Association (DGMA) to make pulses available at various outlets across the national capital at reasonable rates.

Delhi's Lt Governor Najeeb Jung today directed the Commissioner of Food Supplies and Consumer Affairs, Sajjan Singh Yadav to carry out further discussion with the association and work out the modalities so that pulses can be made available to the people at highly subsidized rates, LG House officials said.

This will be one more step in the endeavour of Delhi Government to control the prices of essential commodities in the city. Pulses are an important source of protein and their supply at low rates will add nutritive value to the meal. The DGMA had worked in collaboration with the Delhi Government in the past to supply pulses at highly reasonable rates.

DGMA has offered full support to the government in controlling price rise

They told Jung that the prevailing prices of rice and pulses are much below the prices of last year and production in the country is also higher than the last year, the officials said.

The office bearers of the Association today held a meeting with Jung. Jung told them that Delhi Government is fully committed to provide the right kind of facilities and conducive environment for their business. He also assured them of quick redressal of their grievances.

The office bearers of DGMA offered full support to the government in controlling the prices of essential commodities, specially food grains and pulses.
