New Delhi, Jan 9: The Special Cell of the Delhi Police has been rapped by the Home Ministry for its expose on Lashkar-e-Taiba hunting for distressed youth in the riot-hit areas in Muzaffarnagar.

In fact, the cell was asked to send a report with the details of the investigation and how they reached such a conclusion, which they have done on Wednesday.

The Cell also faces red as they shared the details directly with the media and not with the agencies and the concerned government authorities. The report will now be shared with the UP government and the security agencies. The report details about the places where the LeT operatives are suspected to have visited, which include Deoband, Shamli, and Muzaffarnagar among others, and the names of those approached.

According to a report by the Times of India, it further names the people who have been approached by the LeT.

On Tuesday, Delhi Police claimed in a press conference that they have traced two people-a teacher and a petty criminal-who have been approached by Abdul Subhan (the LeT handler) to indoctrinate distressed youths from the riot-hit areas by showing them riot videos and inflammatory speeches. The youths would have used in a kidnapping, meant for funding a mosque.

Earlier, Congress Vice-President Rahul Gandhi had also mentioned such a scenario in a rally in October last year. He mentioned ISI's involvement in recruiting disgruntled youths in the relief camps.
