Delhi: AAP cancels candidate's ticket after he refuses to contest from Wazirpur assembly
New Delhi, Jan 3: In a fresh jolt to the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) ahead of the Delhi assembly elections, party's candidate from Wazipur on Saturday, reportedly, refused to contest on party ticket.
Meanwhile, in a damage control mode, the party came out with a statement saying it has cancelled the ticket of its candidate from Wazipur assembly following a negative report against him.
"The party has dropped Suresh Bhardwaj from its list following some prima facie negative report received against him from the area. The party has replaced him with Rajesh Gupta, who will be the AAP candidate from Wazirpur," the statement said.
A senior party leader said Bhardwaj hid information regarding the wages of his factory workers. The party had also received a complaint against Bhardwaj, who is also a former Bharatiya Janta Party member, after the announcement of the ticket.
Gupta is an assembly coordinator since the last Delhi elections.
The party has announced its candidates for all the 70 seats in Delhi for the coming elections.
Two days back, mother of Kargil war hero Vikram Batra left the party calling Arvind Kejriwal a spineless leader.
