Not the one to buckle, TTV Dinakaran is all set to challenge the decision to oust him and his aunt Sasikala Natarajan from the party. In a move that in all likelihood will split the party further, TTV Dinakaran has called for a meeting with his 'supporters' including MLAs at the AIADMK headquarters on Wednesday. A showdown is expected to take place at the party headquarters with groups against and in support of Dinakaran will come face to face.
Post a late night meeting at Chief Minister Edappadi Palanisami's residence, more than 20 ministers decided to oust Sasikala and Dinakaran from the party so as to facilitate merger talks with Panneerselvam. Finance Minister Jayakumar announced the decision to oust 'the family' from the party and government affairs. Within minutes of his announcement, half a dozen MLAs landed at Dinakaran's residence to extend support.
Taking a cue from the support he received, Dinakaran has decided to not go down without a fight. It was a fall from grace for Dinakaran to go from AIADMK Amma's candidate for R K Nagar bypoll to being ousted from the party. Dinakaran has called district secretaries for a meeting at 3 PM on Wednesday where he hopes to decide the next course of action.
With a team of Delhi police, who have booked Dinakaran in a bribery case, arriving in Chennai looking for Dinakaran, it is to be seen if the ousted deputy general secretary of the AIADMK will face arrest. Meanwhile, the Palanisami and Panneerselvam camps will begin talks of merger starting Wednesday and the process is expected to be smooth since Panneerselvam's preconditions were fulfilled by the AIADMK Amma camp.
