Jalandhar, Jan 28: It has been two years since Divya Jyoti Jagriti Sansthan (DJJS) sect head Ashutosh Maharaj left this world, but his followers are yet to come to terms with his demise.
They still believe that the Baba is doing mediation in the freezer and will come out of his long silence. But, Ashutosh alias Mahesh Kumar Jha was clinically proven dead by a team of sansthan doctors in Jan 2014.
Surprisingly, his followers even sing, "Ashu Baba aayenge", in a hope that Baba will come alive one day! [Dead or alive: The curious case of Ashutosh Ji Maharaj]
On Jan 29, 2014, Ashutosh had passed away after suffering from cardiac arrest. Shortly after his death, his followers and authorities started claiming that Baba had taken samadhi.
Once Ashutosh had reportedly told his followers, "My soul will disappear and return after completing a few important tasks of mankind."
Presently, his body has been kept inside a 12 ft*15 ft glass room, with a number of security guards.
One of the officer of Jalandhar district, who saw the body told a newspaper that his body has turned black and is completely shrunk. A special chemical is used on his body for its preservation. [Hearing on Ashutosh Maharaj case adjourned]
Succession row and property-related issues are said to be the bone of contention behind his impending cremation.
One of the petitioners, Dalip Kumar Jha, had moved the high court in April 2014, seeking the release of mortal remains of "his father" to him for performing last rites and also a probe to ascertain the cause of his "mysterious death".
