New Delhi, Nov 19: The meeting between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Interpol Secretary General Jurgen Stock at New Delhi was a fruitful one with the latter promising that Dawood Ibrahim would be nabbed.
"We will extend all help in nabbing Dawood Ibrahim," Stock said at a meeting with Modi in which Home Minister Rajnath Singh too was present.
Stock is in India to attend the 6th Global Focal Point Conference on Asset Recovery organised by the CBI. This meet is a crucial one as representatives from 50 different countries are taking part.
Key on the agenda would be on how to attach and recover properties of fugitives. This would come in handy for India which has identified over 50 properties owned by Dawood Ibrahim in various parts of the world.
Dawood Ibrahim has been on the radar of the Interpol for several years now. However, he has managed to give the Interpol the slip on several occasions.
Today the situation is different and the radar of the Interpol on Dawood is extremely high. Stock assured both Modi and Singh that they would work closely with the Indian agencies and provide all information that is gathered.
For India it would be extremely crucial to get real time information in case Dawood moves out of Pakistan.
Stock said that he realized the importance of nabbing Dawood and all possible help including real time information on the movement of the don would be provided.
The last known travel made by Dawood was to Dubai.
However, that was a long time ago. Currently he is housed in Karachi and has not been allowed to move out of his home.
The ISI, which shelters him, has advised him to stay in Karachi as there would be a great amount of risk if he moves around.
