New Delhi, Nov 24: Days after Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh's warning against Pakistan, the neighbouring country has been trying to shift underworld don and the most wanted terrorist in India Dawood Ibrahim out of the country, informed media reports on Monday, Nov 24.
Earlier sources had informed that Dawood has taken shelter at Pak-Afghan border in northern Waziristan. However, Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) agency of Pakistan is unsure about his safety at the region and is looking for a safe haven for him, the reports claimed.
According to sources, ISI had tried to move Dawood to Thailand, Nairobi, UAE and Bangladesh but the agency dropped such plans everytime. While shifting Dawood to UAE was called off due to security concern, planning for Bangladesh was cancelled as the country shares a good relationship with India.
Sources also informed that Pakistan Army and senior ISI officials have been given the duty to ensure full security to Dawood who has been living in Pakistan for more than two decades.
Earlier on Sunday, Rajnath Singh had asserted that terror in India was not home-grown but sponsored by the neighbouring country. "Terrorism in India is fully Pakistan sponsored. Pakistan says non state actors are involved. But is ISI non-state actor. ISI is aiding terrorism," the Union Home Minister said. [Pakistan is sponsoring terrorism in India: Rajnath Singh]
Asked whether India would carry out a "hot pursuit" to nab Dawood, Singh said, "Give us time. Please wait. Strategy cannot be divulged. There is no time frame. But we are trying so that Pakistan hands over Dawood as early as possible. Diplomatic pressure is building up."
