Hyderabad, Jan 19: The Cyberabad police has its hands full and will go into a variety of issues that led up to the suicide of Rohith Vemula a PhD scholar at the University of Hyderabad. Protests at the university campus continued with students demanding the removal of Bandaru Dattatreya from the union ministry.
The police, which has registered a case against Dattatreya for abetment of suicide will question the students who have made it clear that the minister had blown a petty argument out of proportion. It is nothing but discrimination against Dalits, the students have alleged before the police who have also filed a case under the SC/ST Atrocities Act as well.
Blown out of proportion:
Students have come forward to question as to why Rohith's stipend was stopped. Further they said that the Union Ministry had blown out of proportion an argument that took place. They alleged that in his letter to the HRD Ministry, he had sought action terming some of the students as anti nationals.
In their statement to the police, the students have said that Dattatreya had influenced the HRD ministry to take action against Dalit students. The university suspended Dalit students on the orders of the following orders from the HRD and also the false allegation made by ABVP, the students have also alleged before the police.
An officer part of the investigation informed OneIndia that cases under IPC Section 306 (abetment of suicide) and SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act have been registered.
