Cyclonic storm Vardah approaches Andhra Pradesh coast
The cyclonic storm, named Vardah, lies 340 kms of Car Nicobar and 1,060 kms of Vishakapatnam.
The deep depression that was formed in the Bay of Bengal has intensified into a cyclonic storm. The Indian Meteorological department has issued a cyclone watch for Andhra Pradesh coast.
The cyclonic storm, named Vardah, lies 340 kms of Car Nicobar and 1,060 kms of Vishakapatnam. The IMD had announced the formation intensifying into a cyclonic storm on Thursday morning. The system is currently moving northward and is expected to move northwestward towards Andhra Pradesh in the next 4 days.
The IMD's prediction adds that the storm is likely to intensify into severe cyclonic storm with wind speeds of 90-130 kmph starting December 9.
Warnings of heavy rains in the next 24 hours in Andaman islands and in Andhra Pradesh from December 11 have been issued. Sea condition is expected to be very rough starting December 11 along the Andhra Pradesh coast from December 11.

Fishermen have been advised to not venture into the sea from the next 24 hours along the Andaman and Nicobar coast and starting December 10 along Andhra Pradesh coast. Fishermen out at sea are advised to return to coast.
Vardah is the third cyclonic storm formed in the bay of Bengal during monsoon of 2016.
