CPI(M) leader attacked allegedly by TMC, party denies charge
Kolkata, Apr 18: Former West Bengal minister and CPI(M) leader Kanti Ganguly was today attacked allegedly by Trinamool Congress aided goons in Mukundapur area in the southern part of the city.
"At about 8.30 PM yesterday, a gang of more than 40 Trinamool Congress goons attacked me and some other CPI(M) workers and assaulted us," Ganguly told said.
"Right now they are continuing the attacks and ransacking the houses of our party workers in Mukundapur and the police are just standing there as mute spectators," he added.
The local Trinamool Congress leadership, however, denied Ganguly's allegations and accused him of trying to disturb the peaceful atmosphere of the area. When contacted, the city police said they were yet to receive any complaints from either side on the issue.
