Haldia (WB), May 28: CPI(M) and Congress leaders today criticised the Trinamool Congress government for inducting some alleged 'Narada-sting tainted' MLAs as ministers in the cabinet.

"This shows the very attitude of the TMC government to the basic issue of corruption," Congress leader and WBPCC President Adhir Ranjan Choudhury told a public meeting at Durgachawk, near Haldia, in East Midnapore district.

He was seconded by CPI(M) leader Rabin Dev, who had contested unsuccessfully from the Singur assembly seat in the last polls. Choudhury alleged alliance partner CPI(M)'s local party offices had been "burnt down" in the past couple of days ever since TMC lost Haldia seat.

The alliance leaders earlier entered into an altercation with local police when they were not allowed to take out a procession on the ground that police permission had been sought only for the meeting and not any rally.

Choudhury said police were acting as the stooge of TMC and the ruling party was throttling democracy.
