Contrast! Both richest and poorest candidates decimated in Maharashtra polls
Mohit Kamboj, BJP, the richest candidate in the poll fray, lost from Mumbai's Dindoshi seat to Shiv Sena's Sunil Prabhu. Kamboj possesses assets worth Rs 353.53 crore.
Experts, however, feel that Kamboj didn't take the election seriously which proved fatal for him. The voters taught him the lesson that money doesn't help you win polls.
While Lodha, at the time of filling his nomination papers, declared his total assets to be worth Rs 198.61 crore.
On the other hand Kiddapalli Keshav, who was the poorest candidate in the poll fray, lost from Andheri West. Kiddapalli, a social activist, was defeated by BJP's Amit Satnam.
Same was the case in Haryana where Savitri Jindal, the richest woman in the country, lost from the Hisar assembly seat. She lost to BJP's Kamal Gupta by a margin of 13,646 votes.
