Narendra Modi faces ire over price rise; Congress workers deface hoarding depicting PM
With Uttar Pradesh assembly elections round the corner, Congress is likely to make price rise of essential commodities a poll issue.
Ghaziabad, Oct 19: Several workers of the women Congress on Wednesday staged a protest against BJP here for failing to rein in the skyrocketing prices of consumer goods and defaced a hoarding depicting Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
"City chief of women wing of Congress Pooja Chaddha along with several women workers reached the petrol pump in Raj Nagar area and smeared Modi's face (on the hoarding) with black ink," said party's District president Harendra Kasana.
Addressing the workers, Chaddha said the advertisement of BJP (in the hoarding) was "misleading".
"People are suffering from soaring prices of petrol, diesel, pulses, vegetables and other basic commodities. Such protest will be staged in future at every place where such hoardings are installed," she said.
"No FIR has been lodged by the BJP," SHO Avdhesh Yadav told.
