Cong open to discussion on new land bill: Kamal Nath
New Delhi, Feb 24: The senior Congress leader Kamal Nath on Tuesday said the party was ready to have discussions on the controversial land acquisition bill, but would oppose it tooth and nail if it is brought on the floor of the House.
"If they would like to have a discussion, we are open to have that with them. We can find ways and means to go around it. However, if they bring it on the floor of the House, we will have to oppose it tooth and nail," Nath, who was a former Union Minister, told reporters outside the Parliament House.
He said the new amendments would shake the foundation of the land bill which the Congress had brought in the past.
"The land acquisition ordinance is going to be opposed by us strongly. There are some serious issues... It shakes the foundation of the bill that we had introduced. Under no circumstances are we are willing to accept it," he said.
Nath also targeted RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat over his remarks on Mother Teresa, saying his "true colour and character" has been exposed.
