Congress calls strike in Gujarat, demands CM's resignation
The party members claimed that the state government has threatened traders and others not to join Friday's protest. "We fear that the state government will resort to high handedness so that people do not succeed," Opposition Leader Shankersinh Vaghela told on Thursday.

He also added that no matter how much the state government tries to abort their protest plans, they will continue a strong protest via non-violent means. Gujarat Congress President Arjun Modhwadia alleged that the state authorities had already set out on Thursday to ensure that people do not participate in the protest.
He also warned the state authorities of dire consequences saying that, the protest is their constitutional right and that they had no rights to snatch it away from the people. He demanded after the former IPS officer's letter's claims, the CM must resign immediately.
Meanwhile reports said that district-level leaders of the Congress were being detained by the state authorities on Thursday, on the eve of the strike.
