Congress calls BJP U-turn government, releases booklet on Modi Sarkar's failure

New Delhi, Dec 1: Calling BJP a U-turn Government, the Congress claimed that BJP-led government at the Centre has taken over 25 U-turns in 180 days. To substantiate its claim the Congress released a booklet on Monday stating how the government has gone back on its poll promises. While calling it a "U-turn government", AICC general secretary Ajay Maken named three latest U-turns by the Centre in a press conference on Monday.

In a 30-page booklet titled "chhe mahine paar, U-turn sarkar" (Six months after,a U-turn sarkar), it said the Prime Minister and his government have gone back on virtually each and every poll pitch "with a U-turn every week".

Congress general secretary Ajay Maken released a booklet listing 25 U-turns that the party said the government had made vis-a-vis the stand the BJP took when it was in the opposition.

"This government has made 25 U-turns in the last around 180 days. That's an average of one U-turn every seven to eight days," Maken said.

He said the issues on which the government changed its stance included black money and the Bangladesh land deal. Congress also accused the government of resorting to "white lies" on black money, flip-flop on issues with Pakistan, "double standards" on insurance bill and "gross opportunism" in aligning with NCP.

"While the booklet was being printed, the government made three more U-turns which have not been included," Maken added.

Attacking Modi government over the black money issue, Maken said, "We want to ask Modiji, where is the money?"

"The truth is that not even one paisa has come back nor one name (of black money holder) has been revealed," he said.

He said while Modi promised clean politics, he delivered a "tainted cabinet" and made a 180-degree turn on the issue of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir and many "slip-slops" on holding elections in Delhi. Maken alleged that the government walked into corridors of power with its "counterfeit vocabulary" riding on a wave of "corporate-funded" high voltage campaign based entirely on "false promises and baseless allegations."

"However, six months down the lane, Modi government stands out for three simple characteristics- U-turn on promises, mere renaming and plagirising UPA's programmes and schemes and decisions that involves selling out public/national interests for the benefit of friendly corporate houses," he said.

"The Modi government is nothing but U-turn sakrar, a government of imitation and industralists. Congress cannot be a silent complicit to the farce being enacted in the name of government", Maken said claiming that the booklet seeks to apprise people of the real face of Modi and BJP.

Maken said the BJP had fooled the people with the sole intention of coming to power.

"They only wanted to seize power even if it meant fooling the voters. They have misled the people of this nation. This government will be known as the U-turn government," he said.
