Congress hits out at AAP govt over 'poor' Chhath Puja arrangements
New Delhi, Nov 16: The Delhi Congress today accused the AAP government of not arranging proper arrangements for Chhath Puja and "failing" to ensure clean water in Yamuna for the rituals during the festival.
"The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government has failed to make adequate arrangements for the festival which is celebrated by a large number of people from Poorvanchal," Delhi Congress president Ajay Maken said.
Accusing the government of failing to ensure clean water in Yamuna, Maken said, "The Kejriwal government neither writes to the Haryana government for release of fresh water into the Yamuna for the Chhath Puja nor BJP-led Haryana government has taken any initiative to release water."
"Chhath Puja begins tomorrow but unfortunately, the Yamuna river is dirty and polluted. The devotees would be forced to do their puja in this dirty water," he said.
Earlier, Maken, accompanied by Mahabal Mishra, Sharmistha Mukjerjee and other party leaders, inspected the Chattha Ghats on the banks of the Yamuna.
