Confirmed: Kiran Bedi, Santosh Hegde not to join BJP

New Delhi, Jan 5: After the rumors spread that the retired IPS officer Kiran Bedi and former Karnataka Lokayukta as well as former Supreme Court judge, Justice Santosh Hegde may join the BJP, it has been reported that the duo are not joining it.

According to reports, both Bedi and Hegde, who were key leaders of Anna Hazare's India Against Corruption (IAC) massive movement, have said that they are not joining the BJP.

Earlier, there were rumors that Hegde and Bedi may join BJP on January 14.

While talking to, Hegde said, "It is one of the most ridiculous rumours I have ever heard. On the one hand, I have been accused of being the one responsible for B S Yeddyurappa stepping down as chief minister because of my mining report. Now Yeddyurappa has rejoined the BJP and immediately the news floats that I too would be joining the same party. Does this not sound funny to you?"

I will never join a political outfit: Santosh Hegde

"I cannot speak for (former top cop) Kiran Bedi, but I can say with 101 per cent conviction that I will stay away from politics. I was part of the Anna movement and I quit only because some persons were going political", he said.

"I will never join a political outfit. Instead, I would like to watch the politics that is taking place. I do not keep in touch with politicians. The only time I see a politician is at the airport and they always look away. I have a mutual relationship of hate with them", Hegde said while putting an end to the speculations.

Both Hegde and Bedi were seen at the fore-front during Anna Hazare's fight against corruption in the national capital in 2011.
