Commuters stranded as DTC drivers go on strike

New Delhi, May 11: Commuters depending on buses for their travel needs had a tough time on Monday after the Delhi Transport Commission (DTC) drivers went on strike protesting against the murder of their colleague here on Sunday.

The DTC buses stayed off roads and a huge rush was seen on Delhi Metro and private auto-rickshaws.

A 42-year-old bus driver Ashok was beaten to death by a motorcycle rider after the bus he was driving hit the motorcycle in Mundka area of west Delhi. He was allegedly beaten by a 22 year old youth whose bike was brazed by the bus, leading him and the woman pillion riding behind him topple.

The boy then fled the spot after killing him.
