Cold wave continues in Delhi, dense fog hits air, rail traffic

New Delhi, Dec 30: Delhi continued to reel under cold conditions as a thick blanket of fog engulfed the city affecting the visibility and severely disrupting air and rail traffic.

The maximum temperature settled a notch above the season's average at 20 degrees Celsius while the minimum was recorded at 4.5 degrees Celsius, three notches below normal.

While 27 flights were delayed, nearly 90 trains were running late due to fog. According to a Northern Railway official, six trains were cancelled while 79 trains are running late due to the adverse weather conditions and departure timings of 10 others had to be rescheduled.

The visibility, MeT departments officials said was 500 meters at 5.30 AM which decreased significantly to 50 meters at 8.30 AM. At 11.30 AM it was recorded at 600 meters which improved to 1200 meters at 2.30 PM and 5.30 PM.

The weatherman has predicted clear sky for tomorrow with possibility of moderate to dense fog in the morning.

"It is going to be a clear sky tomorrow. There will be moderate to dense fog in the morning. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to hover at 20 and 6 degrees Celsius respectively.
