Madurai, Aug 31: Tamil Nadu Congress unit chief E V K S Elangovan today said the prospects were bright for a coalition government after the near year's assembly elections. Congress would decide about the alliance at the time of polls.
"All parties in the state are now firm that they should be part of the next government to come up in Tamil Nadu," he told reporters here. He claimed leaders of others parties were meeting him to talk about alliance and he did not go and meet any one.
Even DMDK founder leader Vijayakanth spoke to him over the phone, Elangovan said.
Asked about the five-party alliance formed by Vaiko, the TNCC chief said he was prepared to join hands with the parties on issues affecting the People. But alliance would be decided only during the elections.
He said people of the state wanted total prohibition, and their desire could not be suppressed for long. Congress would launch "a big" agitation against TASMAC liquor shops, he added.
