Clean India in Pics: High-profile ministers come out of comfort zone with brooms
New Delhi, Oct 1: As the "Swacch Bharat" (Clean India) Mission would be launched Oct 2, 2014, lets have a look at what initiatives have been taken in the past one month to fulfill the pet project of PM Narendra Modi.
On Sept 24, Wednesday, the government gave its nod to the five-year-long programme to eliminate open defecation and construction of individual and community toilets across the country.
On Sept 24, PM Modi in Bangalore had asked the students to devote 100 hours every year towards Swachh Bharat, and pledge that they will work towards a clean India.
New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) on Sept 22, had created a Facebook page, "hohoshameshame" asked the people to post photographs of all those littering or urinating at public places.
"The mission will aim to create a Clean India of Gandhiji's dreams by the Mahatma's 150th birth anniversary in 2019", PM Modi had said in his message.
Modi government's 'Swachh Bharat' campaign also found a new supporter and it is none other than Arvind Kejriwal, who on Tuesday tweeted:
