UP: Clash in Muzaffarnagar over eve-teasing, 6 injured
The two sides indulged in stone pelting and attacked each other with sticks on Sunday after a quarrel erupted over a girl being allegedly harassed by youths, police said.
Six people have been admitted to hospital. A case has been registered in this connection, they said.
Security has been tightened in the area after the incident and extra policemen have been deployed as a precautionary measure.
In September 2013, clashes between two in the area resulted in at least 62 deaths and injured 93. The violence left more than 50,000 displaced. Several reports say the clashes began with the incident of eve-teasing.
The riots have been described as "the worst violence in Uttar Pradesh in recent history", with the army being deployed in the state for the first time in last 20 years.
