Bastar, Chhattisgarh, Dec 13: At a time when the BJP is facing flak on the issue of Agra re-conversion case by Hindu outfit Dharma Jagran Manch, an RSS offshoot, a BJP MLA from Bastar reportedly attended a similar ceremony organised by the Vishwa Hindu Parishad in Chhattisgarh in October.

As per an NDTV report, a mobile phone video of the conversion ceremony in Madhota village in Bastar shows the MP, Dinesh Kashyap, welcoming the 33 families who reconverted to Hinduism from Christianity. Kashyap was the chief guest at the ceremony.

When asked by the media house Kashyap said, "I did attend the reconversion ceremony which was organised by the Vishwa Hindu Parishad in October. But it was not like what happened in Agra. In the reconversion ceremony I attended, people voluntarily reconverted. They were lured by the people of Christian community and that day they returned to Hinduism."

The BJP-led NDA government at Centre is facing massive uproar in the Parliament ever since the news of an alleged forced conversion of 57 Muslim families into Hinduism emerged from Uttar Pradesh's Agra district. The opposition attacked the government as well as RSS whose offshoot Dharma Jagran Manch organised the ceremony. The ceremony was called 'Purkhon ki ghar vapsi'.

If reports are to be believed, after Agra, now a similar campaign will take place in Aligarh on Christmas, December 25.

Despite uproar in the Parliament, BJP's firebrand MP Yogi Adityanath said that he will go to Aligarh on December 25 for Purkhon ki ghar vapsi' ceremony.

"This is not conversion but homecoming. My program is in Aligarh and it will happen - those who want to return voluntarily will be welcome," Adityanath was quoted as saying in media reports despite BJP denying any role in the conversions.
