Raipur, May 30: At least seven labourers were injured today after a portion of an under-construction railway over-bridge meant for the upcoming steel plant of NMDC at Narnagar in Chhattisgarh's Bastar district collapsed.
"The incident took place this evening near the upcoming steel plant in Nagarnar, 17 km from Jagdalpur district headquarters," Bastar Additional Superintendent of Police Vijay Pandey told PTI.
A portion of 'centering' (framing) erected on iron rods for laying a slab for the railway overbridge fell on the labourers, he said.
The victims, working for a private construction company, were rushed to the Maharani Hospital in Jagdalpur and their condition was reported to be out of danger, the ASP said. Further investigation is on, he added.
State-owned National Mineral Development Corporation (NMDC) is in the process of setting up a steel plant in Nagarnar. The work for laying a broad guage railway track at a railway siding meant for the plant is underway.
