Chennai, Oct 25: National Democratic Alliance (NDA) ally Paattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) is following the footsteps of its opponent DMK, which championed the Tamil language movement in the state.

PMK has now slammed All India Radio for broadcasting Hindi programes in the southern states of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry, accused it of 'imposing' the language on the people.

Recently, on September 5, on the occasion of Teacher's Day, DMK chief Karunanidhi embroiled himself into a controversy when he opposed the phrase 'Guru Diwas' coined for 'Teacher's Day', saying that the former was in Hindi and should not be propagated in the South. He also accused the Narendra Modi government for imposing Hindi on the people of Tamil Nadu.
