Chennai Blast at Bangalore-Guwahati Train: Helpline Numbers

Chennai, May 1: Thursday morning people woke up with a shocking news of twin blasts in Bangalore-Guwahati train at Chennai Central. At least one person died while 10 people were injured.

The blasts took place at S4 and S5 coaches of the train which started from Bangalore on Wednesday night and was scheduled to reach Guwahati on Saturday morning. Blasts occurred in the train at 7:15 am. The train was supposed to reach Chennai at 5:40 am.

One person has been detained by Railway Police who have begun investigation and later will hand over the probe to the Special Investigation Division (SID). The suspect was hiding inside the same train, informed police.

It has been confirmed that it was a terror attack but Home Ministry refused to connect ISI with the blasts at this moment. Recently, one ISI agent was arrested in Chennai.

Both the coaches have been damaged. The station has been cordoned off and is teeming with police personnel who are checking the rest of the coaches. Sniffer dogs have been scouring the platforms. The injured have been taken to a hospital near the station.

Rs 1 lakh, Rs 55,000 and Rs 5,000 compensations have been declared for teh deceased, seriously injured and minor injured people respectively.
