In her letter, she said, "While I do appreciate the fervour of your actions, I consider that subjecting oneself to such an extreme act of self-inflicted pain should be avoided."

"I thank you for the concern shown by you in my interest. I advise you to take good care of yourself and hereafter not to take such drastic steps that may endanger your life, "the letter written by 66-year-old politician has been quoted as saying in NDTV report.

Earlier on Monday, the man identified as Shihan Hussaini crucified himself on a wooden cross as dozens of AIADMK workers watched the incident. In the video, his aides were seen digging nails into his hands and feet. Shihan remained hanging from wooden cross for more than six minutes.

Former Tamil Nadu CM turned 67 on Tuesday.

Here is the letter written by Jayalalithaa to her fan.

Dear Thiru Hussaini,

I was deeply shocked and distressed to learn that you had performed an extreme act of penance in nailing yourself to a cross and offering a prayer for me to overcome all obstacles and to assume charge as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu again.

While I do appreciate the fervour of your actions, I consider that subjecting oneself to such an extreme act of self-inflicted pain should be avoided.

I thank you for the concern shown by you in my interest.

I advise you to take good care of yourself and hereafter not to take such drastic steps that may endanger your life.

Yours sincerely,

Jayalalithaa
