Centre dealt severe blow to SAD-BJP govt by rejecting drought relief demand: Bajwa
Chandigarh, Dec 11: Punjab Congress today said the Narendra Modi government had dealt a severe blow to the Akali Dal-BJP government in the state by allegedly rejecting the plea for allocating Rs 2,330 crore as the drought relief.
The Modi government had hardened its attitude towards this state despite the fact that the BJP is a coalition partner with Shiromani Akali Dal here, Congress President Partap Singh Bajwa said.
"However, even the BJP leaders from the state had been sitting passive observers of the deepening crisis. Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal owes an explanation to the people about this discriminatory attitude of the Modi government towards the state where his own party is a partner," he said in a statement here.
Bajwa said the rejection of drought relief to the farmers here reflected not only the failure of Badal and his government, but also that he was let down by the BJP.
