CBI team lands in Badaun district to probe twin gangrape and murder

Badaun, June 13: A CBI team comprising 20 members, led by a DIG will reach Badaun district in Uttar Pradesh on Friday to investigate the twin gangrape and murders of minor girls. Early on Thursday, the CBI had registered a case of gangrape and murder against five persons over the killing of two teenaged cousins who were found hanging from a mango tree in the village.

The CBI took over the probe from the Uttar Pradesh police for not taking prompt action against the guilty.

The department has mentioned in its FIR that the state police did not react when the people of the village approached them for help when the cousins were kidnapped.

Two police officials have been named in the case--Chhatrapal Yadav and Sarvesh Yadav, apart from three brothers Pappu, Awadhesh and Urvesh Yadav, accused of committing the henious crime.

The girls were founding hanging after a day they went missing from their house on May 27th in the Ushait area of Badaun.
